Givi Tank Lock Mounting Question

Anybody know the correct tank lock ring mounting model number for the S? The Givi website does not list the S but has an application for every other R and K bike of that era; one of which must be the same.

Thanks.

Hey, CT,

It's the BMW 6 hole, BF11 mount ring. Try eBay. I have two of them, one on the R11S and one on the K12RS. This is the best mount system I've found, too. Much, MUCH better than the Cortech.

You might need to put a couple of washers under the heads of the 6 mounting screws or trim the length of the screws so that they don't puncture the tank on your S. Had to do that with both of mine.

Excellent information; just what I needed to know. I contacted Givi directly and they were useless.

Thanks.

This is what my K mount looks like at the moment, SS washers under all 6 screws, even the two countersunk screws is the rear. I'll get around to grinding these screws off at some point. The only (small) issue is that the gas cap lid will not stay open after unlocking and opening it. The rear of the Givi ring prevents the cap from opening fully. I'll fix that with the screws.

Remember, the six screws hold the gas cap assy on the tank. Might want to do this outside. The large rubber O-ring will have absorbed gasoline and expanded enough to make it almost impossible to reinstall without pinching it. If you leave the O-ring outside in the hot sun on a dark, hot surface, it will out-gas and shrink back to normal, easy to install size in a couple of hours - while you're getting other stuff done.
