I'm a road cyclist, 3200 miles in last 12 months. I have a Fuji aluminum MTB, but mainly use it to commute, or fire roads kinda stuff.

mtb rider here. used to do a lot of road riding, but prefer being in the woods battling trees, roots and rocks.
I have always been a fan of the saying, " It's not what you ride, but IF you ride".
Cheers,

Sean

I started riding mtb in high school in the early 90s, stopped for about 20yrs, and started occasional rides with a specialized Epic S works the past few years. So out of shape on a bike still, no time and don't ride enough...

Mostly commuting via road bike, but I live about a mile from the birthplace of mtn biking, so I just naturally have to ride a couple of those too.

Been an avid mtb rider since the sport began in the 1980s. So much fun! Currently have a 5010 Santa Cruz. Helena Montana has the best single track riding in the country...I'm not kidding. 80 miles of single track within 5 miles of town. Check out web pictures.

Both... Road cycle for fitness training, and MTB for fun and to keep the arthritis away. Wife and I MTB weekly, and I also have a few friends I ride with occasionally.

I once rode a great deal on road and off. I sold all my bicycles in 2010 and haven't ridden since. I just lost interest.

buzzerbee,
I would recommend trying a modern mtb on trail. The newer geometries are pretty amazing and now there are many tire sizes to consider. If you have a chance, ride a plus size tire. Nothing but smiles!!
Cheers,
Sean

All my MTBs are from the last decade.. still riding 26" wheels.

Hardtail:

Luckily, I have protected open space just 1/4 mile from my driveway, riding MTB and dirt bike is convenient without the need to transport the bikes to trails.

So true. And a bonus is better physical fitness, which is a plus for motorcycling.
