Transmission Drain Plug Tool

Just bought a 2015 VW Beetle, and was researching the DSG transmission fluid change and ran across this tool. Thought you guys might find it of use since it has a 14mm hex as the R1100S does.

yeah apparently Pelican is smart enough to block anyone from link a competitor's website. Like ECS Tuning...

I'd doubt there will be clearance for that tool.

I have the BMW tool, and clearance is gone before the plug is totally out. Last turns with big channellock pliers.

Not sure, I used the 14mm bit out of a harbor freight set, and a 14mm gear wrench. it is a pretty thing, and I have tool boxes full of pretty Park bicycle tools.

I'll just leave this here: R1100S & R1200C Transmission Drain Wrench

disclaimer: I invented this, sold it on the forum for a while and now supply Beemerboneyard. However, I feel it's by far the best tool readily available - you can put a breaker bar on it, and to replace put a torque wrench at 90 degrees to ensure you're getting it torqued to spec. It's only a little bit more expensive than the previously linked wrench, and has big benefits (to me, at least). Plus, guaranteed clearance to the exhaust.

Let me know of any questions or suggestions!

I own one of the originals from here, works great & have the angle conversion chart to figure torque values.

I have one of these and it is a well made sturdy tool that makes transmission oil changes almost pleasurable.

Transmission Drain Plug Tool

I just bought the correct size allen wrench and sawed off one end enough so it fit.

I tried that as well, but that drain plug wouldn't budge (at least the first time I changed fluid). Perhaps the PO over torqued - should be 55 Nm. Iminspaaace's tool allowed me to put a good sized breaker bar on it and then tighten properly.

Thanks GSaddict. This worked like a charm. Home Depot has coupling nuts that are an inch long so didn't even have to cut one.
