'65 BMW R50/2 in 1970 at age 17. First ride of more than a mile put a smile on my face that nearly broke my skull.
BMW twins ever since, Rs 60, 69S, 75/6, 100/7, '99 11S and '04 11S. The smile is usually dormant but still escapes from time to time.

Probably as good as it got back then.
They were on all the Civil War wagons.

Those were called brakes? Hah, faked you out. One or two corner slowing at best then nothing.

Got ya beat Rick, mine was bigger, '68 CA160 in way red. Got it used in '68 so it was made earlier. The pic doesn't show the real color (not mine). Worse "suspension" on any bike ever, not one iota of damping.

I remember as a 15 years when my foot slipped off the kickstart trying to start it in my slippers it felt a little strange took my slipper and sock off to find the big toe had come out of the socket and turned 90 degrees to my other toes and to this day still cannot kick a ball for fear of it doing the same again.

Bike wise moved on to a Norton Jubilee where I very quickly realised that if my biking career was going to be riding and not fixing it had to have ‘Made in Japan’ stamped on it and to this day will not have a Whitworth spanner in the garage

'65 S90. My older brother bought it used in pristine condition, rode its wheels off, then crashed it, then mine, then crashed big, then repaired, then my buddy's, then mine again, then my other buddy's, then crashed, then sort of repaired mostly with safety wire, then his brother's when it was ultimately, finally and completely crashed beyond any hope of repair, we all shed a tear.

Rainbow, CA on Hwy. 395.

My parents let me buy it when I was 14 so I would ride 100+ miles a day on dirt farm roads around my grandparents house in Rainbow.

...dANG!...that's some pretty impressive riding on a Dream! Must've been a hand full when you landed on that goofy front end. :O

My very first off-road adventure was riding in the hills around Mulholland with my dad, he on his 150 Dream and me on my Cub 50.
He called it 'cowtrailin' '...
