R1200S specific engine refurbish tech advice requested

I've a couple specific questions maybe experienced fellow forum members can help me with:

With R1200S engine heads and cylinder barrels removed:

1) Are rod shell color codes marked anywhere on the parts, and visible through the open engine cylinder barrel openings? Or are they externally marked on the shells, visible when removed from rods?

2) Can anyone suggest a measuring tool make & type(s) combination with accompanying procedure, that can be used to measure crank journals through the open cylinder barrel openings? Anyone here done it this way?

Any informed, experienced assistance greatly appreciated.

Chris at San Jose BMW in northern California was kind enough to spend time providing me with the advice requested.

Also, I should have better read the RSD, as the answer to question #1 was contained in this manual.

Thanks to all who took the time to consider my post. -Mark
