The question is, would a set of TKC 80s do the triangle of Seattle-San Diego-TOR-Seattle? Around 4,500 miles.

Well, you can always send the set to me, scrub down an older set on the way here and then we'll mount the new set here and off we go...

its true. I have downsized the fleet since I'm killing more weekends shooting 2 and 3 gun matches. I'll be looking or a 250 when JackJack gets big enough to ride a 50, but for now, being without a dirt machine isnt an issue, since I have no time to ride it.

This is why you asked me if I wanted to ride to CO. You know I don't read the paper that often anymore.

If Rick and Ralf are riding around the globe, and they are going to go up US 60, maybe we could ride with them for a while, then drop off in CO while they head to South Dakota?

I have to check out my 11s and be sure it can make the trip. PO was pulling parts off of it for his own bike.

Figure 4500 miles on a set and they're pretty much done, or on the way out.

Just a note, the new kid in town is the Pirelli Scorpion Rallye STR. These puppies handle!

That’s not many miles in a day. Globe to Show Low, under 100 clicks. What you thinkin?
Last time I went to New Mexico I did Acton, CA to Show Low, then all points east from there.

I put the question to the ADV crowd about doing the CDR.
Continental Divide Ride
Figured I’d be solo if I went but…
Evidently you can catch the CD in Pietown NM, but you can bail to tarmac along the way.
But reading more, it looks like to Colorado section of the CD is the best part.
I think the AZBDR is part of the CDR. At any rate, debating when and whether to go. I have the time off, just need the stamina.
Most of what I read is it’s all doable except for the deep mud parts. Scares me to be out there stuck or flopped on a 600# bike.

This Kevin dude has panned out GPS routes for easy, medium, and hard available.
A good resource:

Reading comprehension, Randy!

...if on my first day, I ride out to Globe and then Show Low, that is about 540 miles in my book. Still not a super long day, but enough if it is in the triple digits all the way. I do 800 miles if I have to, but why?

Not in any kind of hurry... plus, If I am riding with the old guy, days will be shorter. He doesn't like them much longer than 400 miles...

Smell the roses... for that you'll have to stop here and there.

Hey Dog-

The CD is okay on pavement too.

Great Divide Trip

I enjoyed the ride and have thought about doing again many times.

800 mile days, no thanks. To me that just means poor planning.

No. It's the desert. Don't worry, no rain, just endless sandblasting.
Which is good for older complexions...

Hey, easy on the OLD jokes.
I probably got all you bucks beat....

I see you meant 'then up to Show Low'.
Agreed, 500 mile days max, 400 mo bettah.
I do like to click off a 100 miles before breakfast (after coffee) most days on the road though.

Nice CD report RDMann. Looks like my kind of roads, with some dirt roads mixed in.
I've been out to NM a couple times and just love it out there.

I'd really like to mix some dirt routes in with the backroads though, being that I've got a GS and all.

I am pretty sure 'old guy' was aimed at me. Although in the morning it is hard to tell who has more trouble getting out of their tent.
