Race 2 Corser improved the S1000RR's standing from 9th to 7th. I'm not to sure about "Crash" Xaus. Hopefully we'll get more details about the cause of the crash. Pit did well for his team's first outing.
The Brits have to be very happy to see Haslam finish 1 and 2 in the PI debut.

Troy Comments on Tyre Differences for Superpole

Troy Corser, BMW Motorrad - 13th:
"It wouldíve been good to have got a bit higher up the grid, but now that I feel happy and comfortable with the bike I can really push a lot harder. Weíve done a lot of work these past two days and during the tests last week and I have only become really comfortable today and that is a good and positive feeling. Before, I felt a bit nervous on the bike and thatís why I havenít been pushing hard, as I didnít want to crash. In normal qualifying we were very close to the top guys and we were looking for tenths of a second only and that was good. It was only in Superpole that the gap widened and a lot of that is down to how our bike works differently with qualifying tires. Itís something that we have to learn to manage and if we can do that, then we would be consistently much further up the grid. I am confident that we are progressing, but the level of competition is so high that a tenth of a second makes a big difference. I did a full race distance on race rubber today and am pretty happy how they behaved, so letís hope that conditions will be good tomorrow - hopefully cooler like today - and we can go for a couple of good results."

Corser/Xaus finish 9/10 in Race 1 at Portimao

If you observered the live timing, you saw that Corser got a great start and was #3 for the first 2 laps before moving back as far as 11th place at the mid point and finally moving up in the last few laps to finish 9th in race 1. Xaus on he out had moved slowly up through the pack and with persistence finished 10th. Xaus was matching the leaders in speed at 299.2 k/h at the end but the lap times were markedly slower.

i think that the torque curve is keeping the S1000RR off the podium. BM just can't get all that hp to stick well enough at the contact patch to get the lap times down. This is the missing part of the puzzle when you look at the small lap time advantage the S1000RR Superbike posts over it's little brother in the 1000 Superstock class. BMW needs to compare the date between the two classes and somehow adjust the Superbike accordingly.

Great performance from Troy at Valencia. The S1RR seems to be improving rapidly.

Troy led most of one rae at Assen...Led a few of the practice sessions. They have obviously made a breakthrough in the set-up.
