Other application than track days
I backed out of buying a S1000RR in August but I can't get this bike out of my head. One of the reasons I did not buy was that I will not use it for track riding but rather traveling. I would appreciate some input from any of you owners that have ridden the bike for say a couple hundred miles. trips...or am I totally delusional. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/nuts.gif

Rique, I would think that with the DTC, the SRR would make you look like a pro out there. The bike has skills.:D You'd have to go "click mode" IMHO to develop your own. This is based on comments I hear Nate Kern talk about and not personal experience. And I totally didn't answer your question.

Your are right on the money. The bike has skills! I am sure it makes anybody a better driver specially those of us that have them still under development. I have read so much about this bike that I feel it is a true revelation and its advanced technology makes it a safer bike. I am just wondering if a 400mile ride with it is not out of the question....

It does have aftermarket bags and the Rain Mode makes it docile when loaded down. I'm just too old for the full tuck riding position.
|
Right again. Its that tucked down position that has me thinking. Pretty cool for an hour or so. I have a riding buddy that has a Honda CBR1000RR. He tells me no problem, you get used to it....then again he is 27.!

Here is some relief Rique.

Just browsing the 1000RR forum & thought I'd upload 2 (of the many) pics I took recently at Moto Mader in Switzerland. This set up didn't look that pretty but was comfortable and gave lots of leverage. FYI

Very interesting, any side shots to see how the bike looks?
|
No side shots. It doesn't look as neat or original looking as the stock bars, but certainly felt practical.

I'm 57, and I have done some 300 mile days on my RR, no problem, with stock bars, seat, and pegs. I'm planning on some 500 mile days this spring. To be honest, I find this bike more comfortable than the '99 R1100S I used to ride, plus it is way more fun.

Risers.
I have put Apex risers on the RR and can do a 300 mile day without issues. It comes up 1 1/2" and 1" forward and 1"wider. I'm 6'-3", 48 chest. Now I need still learn to ride it with balls. I put Ohlins on and that should give more feedback from the front end. Stock sucked at 230lbs.
