Need help removing fuel pump assembly from 2004 E83 X3--pics attached

Gas tank access cover is off and all connections done. Tank is empty. I'm a very hands on DIYer and I can NOT see how to remove the pump and filter assemblies. I've spent unknown hours googling and searching, reading etc. And so far, have not seen my particular pump set up or info on how to remove it.

I have new parts ready to go,....I have also had a friend who is professional independent tech look at it,....he was not able to figure it out either. My car has been down for a month now,....and I am frustrated.
