I have the 3.0i with M54, it appears that my range selector switch is internal. I'm trying to determine if the switch is defective or the TCM; it will be a lot easier to replace the TCM than the switch. I'm trying to determine how to confirm the switch is sending the correct signals. I have NT510 scanner i think it will show me realtime feedback but may not show each line level. I have two nearly identical E53; both 3.0 2001s. can i swap the TCM to determine if the problem is in the TCM vs the switch?
