Z3 automatic
I have a 1997 Z3 2.8 with an automatic tranny. I typically do routine maintenance on my vehicles, and was suprised by not being able to locate a "dip stick" for checking fluid levels in the transmition. I refered to the manual, and it has nothing to reference for that type maintenance.
Am I completely blind, or is there no way to check the transmition fluid level? Dazed and confused in South Florida! |
BMW has not had a trans dipstick for a long time now.
You check the level at the trans pan(under the car)--there is a plug on the side of the pan that is removed to check the level with the engine running while the engine/trans is at operating temp If the fluid is at or slightly above the bottom of the hole the level is ok SmileWavy S |
Thanks. That helps. Seems like something they need to reincorporate to their cars.

97740i is correct. I've searched and found out that your auto is a GM Hydramatic unit that uses Dexron III. I use Amsoil ATF in mine. Good luck! - Marvin
