Z3 - 1998 - trunk locked in "locking position" HELP
 

I have a Z3 - doors/trunk opens with key only. This morning opened car door, when to put something in the trunk - would not open. Try the key in the trunk lock and it finally opened. Then the latch of the lock clicked over and stayed that way. Can't close trunk all the way, using key in door lock or trunk lock doesn't activate trunk lock now. Any thoughts on what the issue might be would be very helpful.
