Safe Way To Remove Bugs
I have an Imola Red '99 M Coupe. It's bug season and I want to know what product is safe to remove bugs. The Arizona sun can bake them on quick and some can be difficult to remove. I'm using Zymol car wash and wax.
I know that citrus based degreasers work well on most glues and grease, but I want to make sure what I use is safe for my paint. |
Keeping the car waxed is your best protection. RainX also sells a spray to help with this - you spray it on the front of your car and it stops bugs from adhering when they splat. I tried it on my last road trip and it seemed a bit easier to hose them off, but I had just Zymoled the car so I think it would have been pretty easy anyway.

Which Zymol product did you use?
I have been trying the Bathe for washing, HD cleanse for prewax, wax and treat for leather. All are very mild. The HD cleanse really made no difference. |
I use Autobathe and Carbon Wax. HD Cleanse is a wax stripper, supposedly safer than Dawn, so I don't use it often.

a good product that i use on my car and my customer's cars comes from rightlook.com. they don't have too many products i use but the bug and tar remover is great! it requires just a little bit on a rag and VERY little rubbing (which is good, so you don't scratch up the paint).
another product they have which is good is the chrome and glass polish. it's in a pink bottle, and is great for cleaning exhaust tips. let me know if you'd like to see some results... it's absolutely amazing! good luck with the cleaning this season! :) -mike |
