98 Z3 radiator issue

When I took my Z3 in for an oil change recently the tech pointed out a white stain (for lack of a better term) that appeared to come out of the overflow hose bib on the top of the radiator. It looks like a leak but I have not seen any active leaking nor has the temp gauge shown any increase in temp. I have not had any visible fluid leaks on my garage floor. Not being a mechanic nor am I as mechanically inclined as I think I am; do I need to replace the entire radiator or is there a simpler (and cheaper) fix?
