Replacing Striker for drivers door latch
My Striker has a worn and cracked plastic part where the door latch, latches to. This causes the door to be stuck at times.
The part no and name is ""Latch Striker". Part #51218399245" It has a switch in it that turns out the dome light and the wires go in behind it. The striker backing plate is also loose on the inside of the door jam and can be lost if you just remove the two torx screws, so beware! That said I could use some info on how this is accessed and what needs to be re and re'd to get it done. |

I just did this a month ago. If you can manage to make the switch while never removing both torx screws from the backing plate, that's optimal. It's tricky, but can be done.
If you did lose the backing plate, you may need to remove the interior panel behind the seat near the floor. Once this is out, there should be an access panel cover that can be removed -- this is used to insert/remove that bracket. If the bracket fell into the door, you might try putting some sort of magnet into that access opening and seeing if you can fish it out. |
