aluminum roadster label on door sill

i have need of advice on two fronts....on my z3 the seat belts don't retract in a reliable way and the door has closed on them and damaged my aluminum roadster strip...what is the fix for the seat belts and what do i do about the mangled roadster strip...what is underneath it....can it just be removed and just leave the plastic sheath like cover on the door sill?
