Whats the chances that the hit and miss bearing failures are just BAD/CHEAP bearings from whom ever Porsche used as the supplier/MFG it seems that all the Constance stay the same. maybe the acidified oil just eats thru cheap ass plastic sealed bearing's with the wrong application.

I have thought the same especially after talking with a bearing expert. I have a 98 base with 235k and the original IMS bearing. Fresh Mobile 1 and driven like a Porsche. That being said when the clutch is replaced I plan on replacing the bearing. Still up in the air as to which one, price is first consideration.

All that labor and you are worried about the price of a bearing?

Thom's IMSB Laws
1. Seals leak leading to oil + grease mixing 2. Oil + grease mixed = really poor lubrication 3. Really poor lubrication leads to bearing spallation 4. Spallation leads to bearing failure Corollaries 1. Spallation is more severe the higher the point loading 2. Point loading is higher for single row bearing than dual row bearings 3. Single row bearing fail more frequently than dual row bearings
