Airbag Support Frame Fix
The airbag is bolted to the support frame and supported by four rubber bushes. The rubber bushes wore out and the horn was sounding intermittently by itself. The bushes are peened into the frame and not available separately. I fixed the problem by cutting out the bushes and rounding the holes with a 5/8" drill. Then I made bushes from delrin. A flange on the backside pushed against the frame and a recess was made for a 3/8" spring. The through hole was a close fit on the centre post. A delrin washer on the outside insulated the bolt from the frame. Now the frame slides on the posts with springs for the return.
If you do not have a T30 tee wrench a 4mm hex wrench will work. The frame bolts are 17mm. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534273546.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534273546.JPG |
