2007 Cayman Headliner Replacement
My headliner started drooping this summer during the hot weather.
At first just a little in back, but finally gave up. I'd been doing the on-line research, so I knew some had done the replacement themselves. SO....off I go into the darkness.... I hate pulling plastic trim. Always feels like it is breaking when you pull on it. But the trim did come off without damage. I didn't see this discussed, but IF I had to do this again, I might remove the seats. Prepping the old headliner board was a pain. I had a lot of old foam to remove. I found a combination of Isopropyl Alcohol (91%) and scraping with a plastic scraper worked the best. But still a messy job. I bought headliner fabric at the local fabric store. Not a perfect match for the original, but good enough. So far....Fabric, 2 yards, $10/yd (ON SALE!!! $15 normally) and Glue, 3M headliner spray glue $16 So I'm all in at about $36... I am waiting the the headliner board to dry. Probably do the glue and installing the new fabric tomorrow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Glued the new headliner a couple of nights ago. Not rocket science, but need to pay attention, only have one chance. I did have a couple of small oops moments. So I have a couple of wrinkles.
Tonight, I put it back in. Not too hard a process. Looks good and the headliner no longer brushes my head!! Pretty happy. |

Good job. You did well. Dealer gets stupid money for a headliner. Mine dropped back in the summer. I do not mind turning wrenches but the headliner was not something I wanted to try. Pretty sure I would make a mess of it. I paid a shop $250+ tax to get it done.
