3.6 in a 07 Cayman 5speed????

I have a 2001 Boxster S with a 3.4 motor in it so I am familiar with Carrera conversions. That conversion works ou pretty nicely and is a straightforward swap in that car. Does anybody have knowledge as to what is required to replace the 2.7 with a 3.6 in a 2007 Cayman 5spd, other than a bunch of money? An ECU flash. What header options, Cayman S or after market? What Flywheel, clutch if I were to keep the 5 spd? ....Am I crazy for keeping the 5spd....? What other alterations are required? It would primarily be a street car with a few Track Night excursions a year.

I had a 5spd in my 2006 987S for a while. There was nothing different about the clutch. If you don't drive like a madman it will take the power of the bigger engine no problem.

Just as an aside, the reason I did it is because I was prototyping a new product. I have come out with a short ratio final drive and LSD kit for the 5spd boxes. I'm doing both a 4.125 and a 4.555 ratio. If you go through with this and decide you want to dive into the gearbox next, drop me a line.

What year is the 3.6L engine ?

2002 and up

2002 and up , with the vario cam plus ...compatible Motronic ..

Are the exhaust ports the same as a Cayman S ? So I could use a header designed for the Cayman S?
