Tyre pressures

I have a 2009 Gen 2 2.9 Boxter and loving it.
Sits on 18” 265/40 rear 235/40 front. My previous 987 had the same tyre sizes with recommended 29psi front, 35 rear and I used to ‘adjust’ slightly to get the best comfort / handling compromise.
The Gen 2 car states 30 front, 31 rear on the drivers door label: this seems very odd for a rear drive set up. Is it the result of some suspension tweaking for the later 987s or should I stick with the 29/35 set up?
