Help door window switch problem
I am having a problem with my 99 Boxster Drivers Window, I have read several posts online... and have seen similar issues but not "Exactly" this problem....
With roof closed, when I pull the drivers door handle, the Drivers window drops the usual 1/2" or so ( normal ) when I release the handle the window goes back up the 1/2" ( I don't think this is normal )....Now outside the car, ( the window is all the way up )....when I pull up on the exterior handle the window drops the 1/2" again.... BUT... as I attempt to close the door, the second I let go of the exterior handle the window goes back up the 1/2" causing the window to strike the metal roof frame....as opposed to remaining down for the 1 second or so until the door is closed.... then going up. I am saying this problem is unique...because everything ( switches etc ) seem to be working as they should...but the timing for the signal telling the window to go back up from releasing the exterior door handle seems to be off. Does anyone know the solution to this? FYI The Car just came out of winter storage, so the battery has been disconnected, could this be caused by that, and is there a way to "reset" the system associated with the new issue with the drivers side window issue? I know there are several switches related to this, and I am thinking its the door switch. Some thing else that may or not be related..... the Main roof latch mechanism, is getting old so in order to make my roof work as it should, ( i.e. windows going all the way up after closing & latching the roof ) ... I have to put a piece of cardboard over the roof latch hook, to make it press the roof switch in.... If I don't do this the windows only go up 3/4 of the way.... I know this switch needs to be replaced, but have not gotten to it yet. I do not think this is whats causing the door window issue because the roof switch " Functions" as it should but it needs that little slip of cardboard to fully depress it. |

Not sure if this will help you, but since you mentioned you disconnected the battery, I know that in my 911 Carrera S, when replacing the battery, you have to "reprogram" the windows and steering, it explains this in the manual. All you have to do to do this is, sitting in the car, close the window all the way, and then push the down switch again. Then, push it up all the way, and push up on the switch again. Now it's programmed so that it knows all the way up and all the way down. Turn on the car, and also turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, and then all the way to the left, so now it knows those limits. Not sure why it has to but I got an idiot light saying something was wrong, and once I did this, that light went out. Hope this helps if you haven't already found a solution! ---Vince |
Hi just fixed the exact same problem you need a new door lock actuator I bought a genuine Porsche item for £130 from Porsche I decided to buy both sides as I thought the other side can’t be far behind
