Very clean 06 Cayman S 6 speed rims / tires / coil-over suspension

blown motor at 45K miles. still waiting on story if it was IMS or....

he wants $9000 for roller chassis and title.


Insert a rebuilt $10K engine and have a sweet $20,000 car?

Not trying to be too negative, but I wonder if you can really do a rebuilt engine for $10k.
Don't forget stuff like new clutch and pressure plate "while you are there".
The early Caymans are under getting cheaper these days.
But....my 2007 is a great drive.

$10 is for a used engine. Rebuilds are more like $18k

Looks really nice, but I would want to know what happened first, then up your budget by 10k.

You'll have to watch the "extras" b/c they'll blow your budget - new clutch, maybe new flywheel, new water pump, plugs, coils, etc. You can jump very quickly up an extra $2-3K. When you're done (assuming you can do your own engine install), you'll have a car worth $24K, which is close to what you'd spend on one already in that condition. So from a profit / loss perspective, you'll break even.

My guess is this was track car based on the mods. If it was, it either suffered from oil starvation because of too many Gs or threw a rod bearing from too many trips to redline. Neither would be a deal breaker when contemplating purchasing it to repair.

I think it depends. Do you really want the aftermarket suspension and exhaust ? If so thats a big plus. You could end up with a nice car for a good price.

If the engine would make a good core, you can get a rebuilt long block from Vertex Auto for around $13k.

The folks I have found who are running their engines have had no complaints about them.

Seems too high priced for me. Uncertain if you have anything of the engine rebuildable. Can't test drive the rest of the powertrain. Don't know the clutch condition. Etc. I can't see more than 4-5k in value considering the risks.

Could be a good project. Re evaluate your 10K engine budget. Those wheels appear to be the rare and no longer produced Fikse Chroma 1 piece wheels which are beautiful.
