P1340
Have a 2000 986 tiptronic. Getting P1340 along with 301, 302 & 303 codes. I am hoping that it is just a wire issue and not the solenoid or the cam sensor is bad. Here is the weird thing though.
I had taken it to a shop (not going back again) and they replaced the sensor for bank 2 instead of bank 1. When they went to start it up, it would crank but not fire. Put the origninal sensor back in and it fires right up. Thinking the new sensor was bad, sent it back and got a new one. Put it in and the same thing...even though they are putting it in for the wrong bank. I know the cam sensors are the same for both banks so other then wasting time, no harm. I am about to tear the aos out to get to the sensor in bank 1, but, what would cause the car to not start by putting in a new sensor on bank 2. Should have had no impact whatsoever...other then waste of time. The sensor is a Beck/Arnley 180-0384 which Back/Arnley swears is the one for the car and it's listed as the right part everywhere I can find online. Anyone have any thoughts? Will get a Bosch if needbe, but trying to avoid the cost until I start a new job. |

Stop buying cheap aftermarket parts, more often than not, they will screw you. P1340 is a pretty specific code, the OBD II manual say the cams are out of time.
