Power steering connection lost
I’ve received the following message on my Multi Function Display: “Loss of steering support. Increased effort”. My ODBII code reader (CRP129) says that communication to the steering control unit has been lost. I’ve confirmed that the fuse (Left foot well Row D # 7) is OK. I’ll admit that I found and removed some mouse debris and I suspect that I’m suffering rodent damage. That being said I need pictures of the wiring connections to the steering control module. Any other help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, |

I've removed the wheel liners on the left front and found a severed wire connecting the power steering rack. Anyone know how to disconnect that connection so I can solder the wire?

Porsches have a 1000 connectors and 999 of them are different. Not sure why they can't make them similar but they don't. Look for tab ears, there will probably be 2, one on ea side. If there are, might try sliding a small screw driver under ea tab to lift the tabs, allowing the prongs to slide under the tabs. Connectors are usually some version like this. Whatever you do, be gentle. Yanking on a connector can break the tab and putting it back together securely will be compromised.
PS. When asking for help, it's best to include some info about your car - year, base or S, etc. I'm assuming since you're talking about power steering wires, you're dealing with a 981 or 718. But that info helps members know what you're trying to fix.
