Interior Light drained battery. Is it damaged?

Hey there!

A well known exotic dealer in the Bay Area had my 987.2 Boxster Spyder for a week to do a detail, and when I tried to drive it away it:

1. Wouldn't start
2. Made a clicking noise
3. Started rolling the windows down
4. Flipped on every warning in the known universe.

We found the culprit was that the passenger door was open and the interior light drained the battery. Started right up on a jump and all the warnings went away. They're charging the batter overnight.

So my question is: Does this cause significant damage to the battery?

If this is going to make me need a new battery now or in the near future I want them to cover it.

Thanks for the expertise, y'all!

It could. Flooded cell batteries do not like being deeply discharged. Get it fully charged, let it cool and run a load test on it. It will be a 50/50 proposition.........

How old is the battery? If it is 4+ years it is likely damaged but was on it's last years anyways. If the battery was reasonably new it will probably be fine with little or no adverse effect. As they get older, running them flat does progressively more damage.
