So I noticed that when you need to buy the updated shifter cables for the 987, they are also selling you the bracket to hold one cable side and the pivot liver that moves the
shifting rod in the transmission. They said the pivot angle on the top is slightly different. My question is it really needed to change the pivot level, as it is crazy expensive !! for that $300. If the original will do the job fine. I also noticed that the top rod that goes from one side the transmission to the other is also different now, it's one long solid piece of plastic. That is the part that moves the shift lever in and out. (I previously upgraded mine to derlin bushings) Is it possible to just do the cables and bracket without the pivot level !? Even the counter weight that used to look like a wheel is different .. it looks like a butterfly now... I already upgraded mine, as the that metal wheel was completely loose on my car. What is the FUNCTION of the COUNTER WEIGHT ?? Is it to reduce the vibrations that goes through the cable to the cabin.. because this is what happened after putting the new one in ... the noise reduction was unbelievable !! I also replaced previously replaced he old cable end with Function-First derlin bushings and aluminum ends ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
