Boxster won’t crank 2

When I turn the ignition key in my 99 Boxster all I get is a rapid, loud, “clicking” sound with my dash/courtesy lights flashing in unison. Battery is fully charged and car functioned without any issues when driven last week. Trip included multiple engine shut offs and restarts which were completely routine. Now I get no indication the engine is even trying to turnover - only the rapid “clicking” and flashing lights. Any ideas on what my problem might be?

Bad battery or corroded cables.

Ground cable or toasted battery, your voltage is low. Headlights work? Then its a solenoid (or connections). “If you can’t fix it with a hammer its an electrical problem.”

Headlights are bright - and remain bright after repeated start attempts - so don’t believe it is the battery or cables. Could this be related to the ignition switch problem I read of?

Get a digital-volt-ohm meter and measure the static voltage and then the voltage while attempting to crank. It should not fall below 10v while cranking. If so the battery is likely bad. It sounds more and more like a starter. When they go out they can draw crazy amounts of voltage. Try hitting the starter with a hammer to see if that helps.
