Help. reversed battery connection to open the bonnet

Hi,

A battery in my Cayman 987.1 (2007) was dead, therefore, I tried to open a bonnet through battery connector in fuse box for replacing a battery.

I tried it several times with another battery or battery charger, but no luck.

And then, I misoperated. I connected it with reversed + and -.

After that, everything have not worked, such as door rump.

Does anyone know how to recover it?

I checked all fuses in the fuse box but all fuses are not disconnected.
Is there possible to broken the relay in the fuse box?

Thanks in advance,
Eiji

Polarity reversals are known to burn up quite a few electronic modules in these cars, you now need to flatbed the car to someone that knows what they are doing..............

I reversed the polarity on my 2006 Cayman S. Did you horn start honking and the window washers start spraying? I had to replace the main fuse, replace the fuse in my radio, and replace the alternator.

JFP I assume you are serious, so which modules usually go? Do I need a PIWIS to go through every system? I accidentally touch the post putting in a new battery... :(

Depends upon the vehicle model and year, but we have seen everything from the alternator, Litronics headlight controls, PASM/PSM, PCM, to the comfort control system, the immobilizer, and even the DME cooked when this happens. A lot seems to depend upon what was switched on inside the car when the event occurs.

As a lot of these control modules need to be coded to the car, yes, a PIWIS is required, even if it is just to reset some of the systems. Sometimes most of the damage is blown fuses, but there is a lot of electronic stuff in modern cars that really does not like reversed polarity.

Thanks!

It's a 2006 Cayman S, so a little less computers than today. I will check it today to see if the smell is gone (could be alternator) and check the charging. It did fire up right away, but I want to make sure nothing is damaged.

Just changed the alternator; what a ***** of a job! Tight space.

On a positive note my Antigravity battery worked!, twice - battery was completely dead, press the button, and she fired right up.
