Installed or dead? Can I retrofit? |
TPMS was an option in 2006, federally mandated in 2007 and newer. The option code in 2006 for TPMS was 482, which you don't list on your build sheet. It would seem to be a tremendous amt of work to retrofit it. I think there are aftermkt kits for TPMS. That might be an easier ave to pursue.

Thank you! I could not tell from the owner's manual if it was an option or not. I appreciate the thorough answer!

Has anyone done a retrofit and have any recommendations?

I do: Don't do it. The most common question we get about TPMS systems is, "The damned thing is driving me nuts, can it be permanently shut off?"
False alerts, particularly in the winter are a common phenomenon, short battery life in the sensors causing significant expenses (the factory sensors are over $100 each, plus you have to dismount the tire to replace them after a few years, so the tires will need to be balanced after replacement). So customers are asking if they can be permanently shut off (they can, but no shop is going to disable a federally mandated safety system due to liability issues). So think it through before spending time and money on something that a lot of people see as an overly expensive pain in the butt. |
