RMS and what all else?
 
I have a 2005 Boxster S 6 Speed manual with a leaking RMS/IMS - wont know which until it's apart.
With 70k on the clock, I figure a clutch kit is on order as well.

I'm 90% sure the IMS bearing is the non-removable type but was still going to put Pedro's DOF kit.

With the tranny out of the car; what else should I be looking at or what else should I just swap out while I'm in there with access?

Some things I can guess: exhaust bolts/clamps, sway bar bushings but what else is a good idea? Example, I just replaced the power steering pump and with everything off it became obvious that it was a great time to also replace all the vacuum lines as a preventative measure.

The DOF is unecessary, just remove the rear seal, the bearing will lubricate just fine without the DOF.

With the bearing staying in and only removing the cover; does the motor still need to be at TDC with the cams locked? IE do I need to slack the timing chains to pull the cover off? My guess is No but I'd rather not guess.

Also, do you know the part number for the micro encapsulated bolts that hold the cover on? Might as well replace them while I'm in there.

Absolutely you must lock the crank at TDC and use cam locks. If you didn’t, the moment you pulled the IMS flange off, the IMS shaft would jump to one side, possibly jumping time in the process. Getting it back centered is a major undertaking, and not for amateurs.

Off hand, I do not have the part number for the bolts.

Glad I asked. Wasn't sure if the flange carried any load or was just a cover plate.

I've rebuilt a few motors but nothing Porsche so the IMS is new to me.
