97 verses 05 base

now have both in the garage. started with the 97, after driving both, the 05 feels digital, less feedback to the driver. thru steering brakes etc. 19 inch carrera wheels are less sidewall and harsher ride . plasticy interior . pros , cup holders glove box, amenities are nice . seems to be less finicky for codes, and running problems. the old 97 , more of an analog feel. i know why people prefer older porsches. more feedback to the driver on the old car. more fun to drive briskley. i know some will say bull. but i think the early cars are more fun.

I have driven every generation of Boxster & 996 except the Spyder. I prefer my 2000 Boxster "S" best. I bought it in 2003 & upgraded the original engine.

If you think the 987 is digital, try driving a 981.

drove my 97 base , again yesterday. find it as enjoyable as ever. will keep it for my son. and will put in a clutch, IMS, etc. but going forward and doing more travel, longer roadtrips will use the 05.
