981 Headlight lens pitted
Got caught in a dust/sand storm, pitted my headlights and clear coat. Was able to 'polish out' and mostly correct the paint, but right headlight lens is esp. damaged. Anyone had any success with one of the various 'restoration kits' for 'plastic lenses? 3M, Mother's, Meguiar's...

Tried to answer this a couple of days ago, I’ll try again. I had good luck with the 3M kit, used it on the passenger side lens on my 98 Boxster. It worked very well, used on a cordless drill you must make sure you keep it moving otherwise there is a possibility of friction melting the plastic. After the finest abrasive I used Meguires plastic polish then 3M Synthetic Wax for UV protection. Nice thing about the Boxster is the assembly is easily removed so you can work on it off the car.
Goodluck. |
