Quick wheel and tire question

Anyone know if I can run a +1 setup on the stock wheels? Specifically, can I mount the following:

245/40-18 tires on 8J x 18 wheels (Front)
275/40-18 tires on 9J x 18 wheels (Back)

I know that it really depends on the tire selection, which would be the Yoko Advan A052's. Looking to get a third set of wheels for the car to be used as my "backup" set for the track. (Current track wheels that I have are wider at 8.5J x18 front, 10J x 18 year).

Thanks!

You might want to check with Tire Rack on a question like that.

I checked with my tire guy, and those tire sizes will fit stock wheels.

I know a lot of folks upgrade to 19's and such, but I can't see how there would be huge gains by doing so, especially for HPDE track days, and autocross. A set of tires for 18's are cheaper than 19's, which allows me to spend money elsewhere on my car...

Autocross guys will tell you that smaller diameter wheels are better for quick exits than larger diameter wheels. You might look at 17's for AX

Not sure if my calipers would clear 17's. Plus I don't want my garage to become a warehouse for a bunch of wheels! (She who must be obeyed would have a problem with that!!)

You will be fine with those tires on your stock wheels. 10mm wider front and rear. If you want to stick with the 18's, consider wider wheels for your Cayman S. We generally spec a 9.0 F and 10.0 or 10.5 rear. Stock size tires or the slightly larger ones you want will work great.
