Console Lock Tumbler Disassembly?

When I bought my 2001 Boxster a couple of weeks back I discovered that the microswitch for the center console had been detached from the lock and was hanging in the bin where it was constantly reading open. I pulled the console up and found that the mount for the switch was missing.

Luckily, I was able to find a replacement lock with a switch and mount on eBay for a few dollars. I now have that, but am loathe to remove the switch and mount lest I break the brittle old plastic. I'd much rather remove the lock tumbler so the one presently in my car can be switched over and bob's your uncle. I cannot find any logical way to remove the tumbler from the new to me latch. Does anyone know if that is possible?

TIA,
Rob

To change the lock on the console bin latch you need to push up the rectangular center section of the lock from below. The latch housing is two plastic sleeves separated by a spring. The only thing holding the lock cylinder in place is a pair of tabs on the lower plastic piece. You can see the silver rectangle in the first photo and all the pieces in order in the exposed view. Re-assembly is sliding the lock cylinder into the housing, inserting the spring and bottom plastic piece from below, and pressing to snap them together.

Thanks, I removed the lock a slightly different way (or perhaps it is the same way you are suggesting?). I stuck 2 screw drivers in the spaces marked by the red arrows and moved the plastic tabs in the white arrow direction. Once I did that, I was able to push the lock out by pressing the rectangular metal section straight down (causing the lock to pop out the top of the assembly). I didn't disassemble the rest of the mechanism - exposing that spring, etc.
