Replace mass air sensor
I've done the on several vehicles, cleaned a few, replaced a few.I'm about to do this on my 986 anything special to consider?
|
A special tool of the correct size...T20 security torx. The “Tamper-Proof Torx” looks like a screwdriver bit with 6-point bits (star shape). The tamper-proof aspect is that in the middle of the 6-point bit, there is a little hole in the bit so you need the special bit, not just the more common Torx. Make sure you get these, not the regular Torx bits that do not have the hole.
Lots of details and the cheap part numbers https://sites.google.com/site/mikefocke2/checkenginelightcausedbymassairflowsensor Why are you throwing parts at it? Especially expensive ones. Diagnosis first. I'd be cleaning the throttle body and intake and checking the AOS first. |
diagnostic said it spikes and then reaches low limit before spiking again. The part is not too expensive its the labor they quoted that is tough to swallow, Especially for a guy that used to do all his maintenance. On my 911 it only was in a shop once.
Luckily i have two sons who are quite handy with it.One owns a boxster, the other is a factory tech for yamaha motorsports. So we should be good.I will direct. |
It is simple, and obvious with the right tool. I cleaned my MAF once and it was original at 70k or so miles.
