System fault and buzzing

987 2006 Boxster - 54k miles

I have not driven the car in a couple of weeks.

Turned on the ignition and got a system fault "visit workshop" and PCM on the tach display. iCarsoft POR 2.0 gives me 4444 - steering angle not initialized. Clearing the code had no effect. The car seemed to drive fine around the block but didn't take it any further.

I'm also getting a buzzing sound, even with the ignition off that sounds like it is coming from the frunk latch assembly. This is noticeable noise and vibration dead center on the front bumper. Disconnecting the harness to the passenger side of the frunk latch has no effect. I had to disconnect the battery to stop the noise. I have the battery disconnected for the moment. It is a relatively new Interstate battery and it is reading 13.07 volts.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Two things: Your battery has probably gotten weak while sitting, and the car has lost its steering angle calibration. Load test the battery, most likely will not pass a load test. Once you get a new battery in it, if the steering angle is still off, you need a Porsche specific scan tool to recalibrate it.

I should have posted that I keep it on a CTEK MUS 4.3 Test & Charge through the cigarette lighter port when parked.

The battery can still go bad while sitting on a maintainer; load test it.

I tested everything I could with my tester and it passed. I disconnected the battery overnight and ran a full recondition cycle on the battery and it completed successfully. Car has always started.

No change in symptoms upon reconnecting.

Load test the battery
