P0304 - Camshaft position sensor
 

2007 Cayman 987 2.7L 5pd -
Scanned OBD codes P0343, 300, 001, 002, 003 - camshaft position sensor, cylinders 1-3,

101 Projects book says sensor is "on right cylinder head toward front". Project 26, Photo 5.

Found and replaced CPS near cylinder #1 Engine still runs really rough.

CPS plug contacts appear clean. Possible wiring fault to DME? Next steps?

Continuity check wiring to DME? Where is the DME? :eek:

Hate to tell you this, but P0300 codes are for cylinder misfires in cylinders 1, 2, and 3, they have nothing to do with the cam position sensors, which in any case would throw a different code.......................

True, there may be other reasons, but the camshaft position sensor is a good place to start.

I should mention I also saw codes P0343, 301, 302, 303, for cylinders 1-3.

Which are still cylinder misfire codes, not cam position codes...................

Actually, it's a pretty terrible place to start. As JFP is trying to get you to understand, you have what's more likely than not an ignition problem, and, I'd propose, it's highly unlikely that the position sensor has much to do with the ignition.

As Rainman Ray would say, it sounds like you're getting ready to fire up the parts cannon.

Start with the basics: have you pulled the plugs and inspected the ignition coils?
