1999 Porsche Boxster base

I am in the process of updating my brake pushrod from the booster to the brake pedal. This requires some parts based on Porsche Tech Bulletin Boxster 6/01 4770 031. I received a conversion kit from Pelican that included a new bellows and seals. I’m having a heck of a time getting the rubber seal seated in the firewall. The bulletin says do not lubricate the seal that penetrates the metal firewall. Does anyone have experience with this or any tricks on getting this seated? Thank you for any help.
