Engine inspection

2014 Cayman, 25,000 miles.

I'm accessing the covers on the engine compartment to inspection the engine, looking for anything out of place like wet leaks.

I have the front cover off behind the seats the belt looks good there is a number on it, 060w-14, is this the date code 2014?

The top cover is ready to be removed next.

What should I be looking at to inspect for wear?

I replaced the air filters, they were quite dirty.

Did oil change, the over fill light on dash was coming on I measured about 9 1/2 quarts that came out, refilled with 8 quarts and level is now in range.

This thread needs pitchers

Wiped the top with a wet rag. I assume running water over engine is a bad idea. Blowing air would get all over the interior.

This is the best shot I can get of the belt tensioner, just a little oil residue.

the mileage isn't that high but the age is 10 years. so perhaps replace the belt?

Are you verifying that 060w-14 is in fact a date code? The belt looks near new.

The car has a 1 year old battery that is a Porsche brand, I'd assume the car was at a dealer for service in the last year.

The belt is the only wear item I can think of in the engine. Spark plugs come up at 40k.

I have no idea about belt date codes but you could inspect it for cracks if you dont have a receipt for the replacement.

There are no cracks in the belt. I may pull a spark plug to see how it looks. Do the 981’s need a special socket for the plugs like the 718’s?
