Need help deciding first porsche on low budget
Looking to buy my first Porsche in Arizona
Constraints : 1. low budget ( ~$30K) 2. Arizona heat - will Softtop cool enough to drive in 120 degrees 3. Low maintenance- How much should I expect to pay for the Porsche I can get on a $30K budget? |

Interior temperature is excellent because it’s got good AC and a tiny space to cool compared to other cars. But the sun will destroy the top quickly and damage the paint. The headlight plastic points up to the sky.
I wouldn’t do it unless you have shade parking and/or a summer beater.

You guys are being tough....
This $30k budget might include the car's cost and some initial repairs. I spent about that on my second Boxster back 17 years ago when the car itself cost about $24k and the work I wanted done to bring it to a fully maintained status including tires was another $4-5k. And no problems for the next 5 years. The car at home was in a garage or under a Noah fabric cover when cold or snow was expected. I parked inside at work and so it was mostly protected from the sun except when being driven. Maybe 30F to 100F temperatures. So another question is this a second car or your only one? You say AZ but that is a big state. Got any well regarded Porsche water cooled specific experienced mechanics handy. I have often said pick the mechanic and then the car as your mechanic may know someone with a known car with a known mechanical history. To see what they go for...KBB, Edmunds, EBay etc. Shop around, drive several, make sure it is the right car for you. (I owned 3 mid-engine Porsches ... loved them all.) |
