![]() ![]() Looking at a GT4 Motor to possibly install in my 986 Boxster. Know nothing about the new motors OR their electronics. Any information out there or am I totally in the dark? Len ![]() |

Good luck with this, the GT4 engine is totally different than a 986 engine; all communications are via CAN Bus, the newer engine is DFi so the car carrying one has a totally different fuel system than the 986; the DME is way different and will require the later wiring harness to function so you will be doing a lot of electronic work arounds to get the engine to talk to the car and visa versa. And even if you did overcome all the problems, you will never get your money out of the car because it is a one off that no one else could run diagnostics or work on.

![]() ![]() Thank you JFP. I figured as much. Probably have to go to aftermarket Electronics to get it to run. That is IF I am able to buy this motor. Anyone suggest an Electronics guy here in the Northeast? Len ![]() Last edited by BoxsterGT; 03-31-2025 at 07:16 AM.. |
