981 Cayman GTS
Anyone here have or had a 981 Cayman GTS?
I've seen a number of used ones for sale and they seem to have a quick turn over in ownership according to the carfax report. Do these cars tend to drive much stiffer than a base or S model? They also seem to sell much slower than the other models, might because of the higher price. What do you not like about these cars? I guess what I'd like to know is how they drive on the ruff roads in N. Cal. I have a base Cayman, '74 911 and '66 912 some stretches of roads can be quite jarring. |

I don't have an exact answer for you, but a close data point in any case. For starters, our roads in Norway vary in surface quality... I'm no stranger to bumps to put it that way. I have a 982 Cayman GTS, and a 1981 SC. The SC is on a full Elephant Racing suspension with uprated T-bars/polybronze/sphericals etc. The car sits below Euro height. The ride is plenty compliant but firm. Not at all unpleasant even on long trips. (The cabin noise is another subject though!) The Cayman's ride with the sport dampers turned off is pretty luxurious in my opinion of view. even with the dampers turned on, the ride is really good. Substantially less jarring than the old 911. Not sure about the 981, but on the 982 the GTS version sits 20mm lower than the base model. Sure, this will make a difference in ride comfort, but I'm personally not bothered. Nothing at all would call a harsh ride. Good luck!

I have a 2016 981 GTS. I love it. There are a few settings to adjust for the rough roads. These years sound better in my opinion being NA Inline 6. The interior fits me like a glove. (5'-10 200lbs). I'm happy to answer anymore questions.
