986 Boxter immobiliser fault

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me with this I’ve had my 2004 986 boxer for a year and it has now got a immobiliser fault code and won’t start or even turn over when I try to start it.I have tried leaving the battery disconnected over night then starting it but still nothing I’ve opened up the immobiliser module and there is some corrosion on the circuit board not sure if there is a chance it could be cleaned up but if not does anybody know anywhere that would be good to get a new one programmed to the car

Thanks

Try cleaning first. I don't know if you can still buy new ones from Porsche.

Corrosion means water intrusion, and that is almost always fatal.

https://www.ecudoctors.com/ - send them your ECU, immobilizer and keys.

While that is happening, check the drains under the convertible top to make sure that they are clear.

Thanks for the replies I’ve now cleaned it out and fixed the water leak that caused it the car now starts again but windows don’t work and it still doesn’t lock I’m not sure if it’s that has to do with that module or something else what do yous think

Thank you

Power the windows at the window motors to check functionality. You could still have an Immobilizer issue which could be corrected by the recommended ECU Doctor service.

The Immobilizer in my 2003 Boxster was in puddle under the drivers seat. Resulting in nothing. no start, lights etc. working. removed it dried it, Soaked with "Corrosion Block". tooth brush scrubbed the bottom side of circuit board where the visible corrosion was. Corrosion block it again. Dried it very thoroughly with compressed air. including it putting it out in the sun to dry. Reinstalled it and all works but the front and rear trunk elec. locks. Ended by passing the front trunk wire-ring to a push button by the seat. Removed the reat trunk lock latch and all works just not secure rear trunk.
