Windows not dropping with handles
 

My windows aren't dropping in my 2000 boxster(986) when the handles are pulled, this is for both doors:

Here's what I've confirmed so far:

- the micros-switches for both handles work, and pass a continuity test, the exterior one looks brand new.
- the micro-switch in the door latch is worn, but the window drops when it's pressed manually.
- jumping the connector for either door handle micro-switch does not cause the window to drop

I'm wondering where else the fault could be... wiring harness... or is there something else obvious like a fuse I might be missing.

Check the function of the door latch switch by opening and closing the latch, not just by manually pressing the switch.

On a 987 , clearing codes will clear up some some problems. Not sure about a 986. Do you have access to a scan tool?

- i do need to finish checking the wiring harness.
- pretty sure all the fuses are under the dash? or where in the trunk is the window regulator fuse? although windows drop with the buttons, and window regulator switch
- window regulator seems good, no slack, goes up and down with no issues, door latch drops the window
- CLU - that is my fear.

Did you do this? My experience is that the switch can be good, but the cam which rotates to depress it can be worn, so the windows don’t drop.

Yes, I did, and rebuilt the height of the button / worn cam with layers of shrink wrap. So it's working well now. But the handles aren't dropping the window.
