Hi. I am seeking advice on a 1998 986 waking up from a 20 year nap.
I cleaned the rotten fuel from the tank and changed all the fluids. Changed the fuel pump and filter. It starts and idles smoothly but after it warms up it develops a misfire on cylinder #3. CEL on. I swapped coils the misfire stayed. I pulled the spark plug and it looks cleaner than other plugs.
This suggests the injectors stopped working. Any suggestions as to why it would cold start fine then one injector would stop. I've tried tapping on it to no avail.
Btw there is still some rotten fuel in the system so I wonder if there is gum in the injector.

thanks for your prompt reply. when it starts to misfire I shut it off for fear of causing damage.
Can I run it until well warmed up with the misfire?
