Help! Boxster S Doors Won't Lock
It seems like an easy enough thing to do but the doors won't lock. I checked the owners manual to see it there is some sort of obscure trick that I'm not aware and came up empty indicating this may be a more serious problem. Could there be something else I'm not doing correctly? I tried the key remote and I get a "beep" and the interior light dims but no lock. I checked the trunks and the top...all are closed tight. I'm at a loss as to what the issue may be. It's a 2001 Boxster S.

Just an added thought, but the console storage lid and gas filler door need to be checked as they will signal a beep when not closed.

Will they lock/unlock with the manual key? Our '03 Box occasionally refuses to lock/unlock electronicallybut alwasy works with the key.

I'm having a bit different problem with my 2003 Boxster S. Everything is properly closed but when I click the button on the key to activate the locking system and alarm, I get a beep of the horn. When I check the doors and trunk lids, they are all locked. According to the manual this indicates that something is open.
I found that it is a problem with the passenger door, it has to be slammed very hard. Note that in the manual it states that "if the driver's door is not completely closed, the vehicle cannot be locked". I suggest that you might try to slam the driver door very hard and see if that cures the problem. This is probably some kind of switch or sensor problem, it is likely happening on the driver side for you and on the passenger side in my car. Next time I take my car in I will have it fixed, but in the meantime I just slam the door with more than the normal force and that does the trick.

When the car beeps the horn when you try to lock it check that everything is closed. If the door trick works then your fine but remember the armrest cover is monitored also and this will cause the same thing if not shut all the way.
