Boxter temp light blinking?

Here is a good one. I have a 1999 boxter that has the temperature light flashing when the car is cold. Any one have any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks

A flashing temp light is supposed to indicate a low coolant level. Mine blinks occasionally too though on a cool morning, and the level is fine.
