My Factory warranty on my 2001 Boxster S ends in April of 2005.
I plan to keep the car two more years. So my question is who out there has extended warranty on their cars and has actually used the policy? 1. What kind of action did you receive from your warranty administrator? 2. Would you use this company again to purchase a policy? 3. Who is the company you use? Lots of questions but I have a quote from 1SourceAutoWarranty for $2400 for a 2 year 24,000 mile extension supposedly mirrors the Factory bumper to bumper warranty. I am not sure if this is the best price, but I certainly want to make sure whoever I go with will fix my car without grief when it fails, etc. All opinions, company names to contact, shared good or bad stories would be appreciated. Warranty Direct. Used it an independent Porsche mechanic to replace coolant bottle - not cheap $600.00 including labor. Happy with them so far.
I got a no deductible coverage. Very inexpensive IMO. Check them out at warrantydirect.com Usual disclaimers.

Thanks Brillo.
I did check their site out and it is a few hundred cheaper. Still looking for any other opinions anyone might have about any other companies or experiences good or bad. Got a couple of months left and I want to make the right decision. PW |

I did the research and decided to go without. my dealer mech. suggested that the most likely problems will not use up the warranty.
If you have a major malfunction you will be happy with the insurance but the likelihood of such a failure is slim. For my two cents -- if the 2500 is no big deal + an engine replacement would be a big deal + you are the type that will rest easier with insurance ---- get it. In my case it is a second car. I can save up for a catastrophic problem if I have to and I would prefer to keep the insurance money in present cashflow. |
