Blinking Coolant Light
My friends 99 Boxster's coolant light is blinking. When he first noticed it, his coolant was a little low. We added coolant, but the light still blinks. The coolant level(after driving more than 500 miles)is staying steady. The temp gauge always shows 180 after warmed up.
Any ideas?

I've heard of 2 issues regarding coolant system. One is the cap may not be sealing properly. Check trunk area for collant spray - teltale sign.
Also, the other is the coolant tank can crack and lose pressure (and coolant). Mechanic can do a pressure test to confirm. I've heard both of these issues can happen to Boxsters and 996's.

Similar experience w/ my 99. Just when I thought I'd added enough to get the blinking light to cease, I added a bit more and it finally stopped. Not sure that helps.

expansion tank leak, buy a good used one. you have to remove the bottom plate that holds the chassis. 1 whole day needed to repair. tools-pliers,10mm socket, used expansion tank core.
I fixed my leak for under $50.00 |
